The Teton Calling – Sheep, an Alliance, Mountains, & Magazines

The Winter Season seems to have started today — Nov 25th — with our first significant snowfall cycle beginning last night.

With the approach of our season, a few things of interest looking ahead.

Backcountry Magazine just came out with their photo annual issue that includes a historical perspective of skiing in the Tetons. In late August, Editor Lousie Lintilhac asked me to contribute a piece, which was fun to do after a hiatus from my usual writing schedule due to a busy summer with our outfitting business. On newstands now or available for purchase at: https://backcountrymagazine.com/cover-archives/

The Teton Backcountry Alliance is approaching our 2nd winter season as an organization. www.tetonbackcountryalliance.org

We are actively working on the issues on Teton Pass and are also beginning to tackle the conversation around the protection of the Teton Big Horn Sheep herd. There are local forums being conducted as well as numerous meetings being organized with leaders in the outdoor community to discuss strategies and suggestions that could work for all user groups in the effort to keep this herd in tact..and perhaps protected and expanded in the future.

Mountain trips ahead:

This spring, our ICE AXE EXPEDITIONS Alpine Maven’s program has 3 spots available on our sailboat. If you are interested in our all women’s trip to explore and ski the fjords from Tromso to Alta, Norway.

This fall, we will be headed back to Antarctica. Check out the program here and please contact me if you have any interest/questions.

And, our women’s JHMR ELEVATE camp is almost filled and will be capped soon at 50 participants. Click the link for more details.

More winter updates coming soon..
